Project Runway Season 8

by Lindsay Strouse

After last week's emotional episode of Project Runway, don't think these designers are taking any breaks.

With four guys and two girls left, anything is fair game in this competition. With that in mind, Heidi decides that all designers must change models.

For their next challenge, the designers must create a complete look for Heidi's active-wear line for New Balance. The winner will have their winning look sold with Heidi's personal collection on Amazon.com. Wow, that's a lot of pressure.

Many of the designers haven't done active-wear before and are worried they won't be able to let their personal style show through. There are no prints in the collection and it is very retail based, which isn't exactly what we've seen come from the designers' minds so far.

Once the designers start working, Heidi joins them in the workroom for some tips. I already see the fear in their eyes. Heidi gives Mondo a lot of trouble when she tries on his outfit. He starts giving a lot of attitude back when he has to completely start over again. Gretchen doesn't want to use the fabric from Heidi's line and butts heads with Heidi and Tim without even realizing it.

Before leaving, Heidi drops the bomb that she also wants two additional looks for her collection. They will be given until the end of the next day to finish all three looks. But not to fear, the designers will be given some "help" tomorrow...hmm...

As soon as the designers return to the Parson's School of Design, Tim sends in the "help"-all the designers that have gotten voted out in the previous weeks. I'm sure it will be nice to have a few extra hands, but I definitely predict some drama resurfacing.

We see Christopher with Ivy, Mondo with Valerie, Gretchen with Casanova, Michael C. with A.J., April with Peach and Andy with Michael D. The designers really enjoy having fresh eyes look at their designs to tell them what works and what doesn't.

The world begins crashing down when Ivy accuses Michael C. of cheating during the Jackie Kennedy challenge to remain in the competition. The claim is that he taped his model's breasts to the dress so she wouldn't fall out on the runway. From there, their argument escalades to new levels.

I know a lot of the returning contestants are hording some bitterness, but when the remaining designers need their help with their looks, this is not the time to bring back old drama.

However, no news can get past Tim's ears. He returns to the workroom to hear Ivy's accusations. Tim lets everyone know this is simply a case of "he said, she said" and that it is a non-issue. Michael C. is hurt yet relieved.

Once the models are set to head down to the runway, the remaining contestants must say goodbye to their design assistants. They meet Heidi down at the runway with trepidation in their eyes, where she introduces them to their guest judge, Norma Kamali, iconic American sportswear designer.

Michael C., Christopher and Gretchen have the lowest scores and April, Mondo and Andy have the highest scores. I'm a bit surprised at that...

The judges' biggest problem with Michael C. was the way he put together the clothes and the way he accessorized his models. They thought Christopher's designs looked cheap and didn't go well with each other. The judges had a similar problem with Gretchen as they did with Michael C.-the styling wasn't well done and it didn't look active.

After some debate, the judges choose Andy as the winner of the challenge. All three of his looks will be added to the New Balance collection and sold on Amazon.com. April, Mondo, Gretchen and Michael C. are sent back to safety, sending Christopher home. Noo! There goes my favorite eye candy.

Come back later today to see RealityWanted's interview with Christopher about his experience on the show.
