Hollie Cavanagh from American Idol Season 11

by Todd Betzold

This season on American Idol has included some singers with amazing voices...Hollie Cavanagh is definitely included in that group. The fan base for Hollie was split right down the middle...some people thought she should win this season and others thought she should have been sent home weeks ago. Despite all of that, Hollie made the Top 4 this season before being sent home last night. Today, Hollie spoke with RealityWanted and other reporters in a conference call about her favorite moments this season, who she thinks will win it all and much more.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: Of everything you were able to experience and go through this season, what was the best moment for you?
A. Hollie: I think when I sang "Rolling In The Deep" and "Son Of A Preacher Man." I think that was my moment...my turning point on the show. Definitely, also, "The Climb" because that was my first standing ovation on the show.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: Three singers left...who do you think is going to win it all this season?
A. Hollie: I honestly have no idea. I'm definitely with America and the judges on this one...I have no idea because the show can go either way...you just don't know, but whoever it is...they're all amazing, so it's definitely going to be a fight to the finish line.

Q. What kind of album do you see yourself making?
A. Holllie: I'd like my album to be kind of on the pop side, but with a little bit of soul. I'd like to make music that's on top of the charts right now, so somewhere along those lines.

Q. Can you talk about the Idol mansion and what it's like living there?
A. Hollie: It's crazy...the house is so big and when it got to a few of us, it got more and more bigger each time. It was a lot of fun and I was very blessed to have been in such a nice house like that...it was really fun.

Q. When did you and Joshua become such good friends and how much downtime did you have to hang out?
A. Hollie: We started to get really close during Hollywood Week and then we were kind of attached at the hip from there. When he would rehearse, I would be in there watching him rehearse. Whenever we could go out to dinner, we'd go out to dinner. Me, Josh and Skylar (Laine) would always be out...anytime that we had we'd kind of just hang out and relaxed and kept each other sane.

Q. What's it been like to not only have praise from fans, but also from people that have been on the show...Carrie Underwood and Lauren Alaina have both very much been in your corner this season?
A. Hollie: It's been amazing...to know that they watched the show, especially Carrie when I sang her song...I mean, obviously it was amazing to get good feedback from Carrie because it was her song. It's just crazy the support that we get...it's just really a blessing.

Q. During your duet with Jessica, how hard was it sing and sit on the swings during "Eternal Flame?"
A. Hollie: (laughs) It was interesting, but we had a lot of fun in rehearsals with those swings. We'd try to swing high and get in trouble because of the lights up top, but it was a lot of fun.

Q. I understand you woke up with a gut feeling that you were going to be voted off. Where did that feeling come from and had you ever felt it before in previous weeks?
A. Hollie: No, there was definitely something different about that day. I'm not sure what it was, but I guess it was just my gut telling me. I was just preparing myself for it, but at the same just staying hopeful because you never know what could happen. I'm not sure what the feeling was, but it was different from any other Thursday.

Q. A lot of people were calling you the "dark horse" of the competiton, even Randy Jackson called you it. How do you feel about that description?
A. Hollie: I would take it as a compliment, I guess you could say (laughs). I never really looked into what everyone was saying...I really was just focusing week-by-week and making sure my songs were right and my songs were good enough. I just went out there and wanted to improve each week and I think people were seeing an improvement in me each week and I definitely feel like I have grown so much, so I'm, just really proud of that.
