Tonight’s season finale of The Real Housewives of Washington D.C. began where it left off last week, with the Salahi’s on their way to the infamous White House State Dinner. They are excited and when Stacie Turner calls them they say they wish they could have brought the Turner’s with them too but hopefully they have lots of “state dinners ahead.” Uh. Oh.
They do walk right into the party, after the guard says their names are not on the list…and get tons of photos with the the Pres, the Veep, and random famous people. Then the shiz hits the fan the next day when a gossip columnist for the Washington Post exposes that they were not invited.
The rest of the episode is basically the aftermath of the White House party crash. The front page of the newspaper. The news channels reporting it. The CSPAN interrogation. The Salahi’s pleading the fifth amendment on every question. And the realization that Tareq really isn’t manipulating Michaele, but she is a willing party in her marriage and their decisions in life.
Cat is terribly upset when her invitation for the White House Christmas party is revoked because she is associated with the Salahi’s. Cat’s relationship is also very strained with Charles because he works at the White House and this is a terrible burden on his career.
Lynda, Stacie and Mary get together to talk it out…Stacie wants to know the Salahi’s side of the story. The only defender is Paul, who defends Michaele after Lynda says that she should leave Tareq and go get a job waiting tables. Admittedly, it is really mean of Lynda, who ALWAYS says Michaele’s name incorrectly (McKayla), and Paul says that it’s easy for Lynda to say this about the Michaele while she (Lynda)married well and that is how she got her money. Stacie invites the rest of the group to meet with the Salahi’s but only Cat will go.
When they show up to the Turner’s house, they act as if nothing has happened, and Cat cannot handle it. She tells them that they are fake and that they give American’s a bad name, and with that she gets up and walks out. The Salahi’s are uncomfortable when the Turner’s want to talk about what happened, and Stacie is floored, as she just can’t imagine that no one wants to talk about the party crash with the Salahis. Michaele makes it clear that they cannot talk about it, and closes off, deciding to leave. Tareq seems a bit more suave about the entire conversation but agrees they should leave too, and with that the Salahi’s exit out of the Turner’s back door.
Thus finishes the first season of The Real Housewives of Washington D.C.
