This week on The Real Housewives of Atlanta there were so many funny one liners that it would be possible to fill this entire recap with just those. The girls really are back in full swing, particularly NeNe who is just so honest and descriptive; no wonder she is always the fan favorite on the show.
In this episode, NeNe meets with her plastic surgeon, which according the other girls, is her equivalent of therapy when things in her life get a little tough. She wants to take her breast implant size down, get a little lipo and have her nostrils snipped a bit. She is nervous when she goes in for the surgery and once under anesthesia she keeps asking for Gregg who is nowhere to be seen. Once out of surgery but still drugged, she mumbles, “I don’t want to be like Dwight” about her nose, and then has her best friend Diana call Sheree and says to her “I got a surprise for you, I get to wear one of your bras.”
Once home, Gregg is still nowhere to be found, when Kim comes to visit. NeNe is still on pain killers and chastises Kim for not bringing wine. When Diana tries to dab at NeNe’s running nose, she asks her not to “Hurt Michael Jackson”. Brice seems upset by his mom’s surgery while Brentt takes it in stride…but still, no Gregg.
It turns out that Kim actually has parents, Joe and Karen, and they seem to love Big Papa, who Kim is back on with again…her mom also thinks that Kim picks “fame over family.”
Sheree is working out with her trainer, who tried to fix her up last year to no avail, and tells him all about her new love interest, Dr. Tay-E. She is wearing her most successful design: A black Who Gon Check Me Boo t-shirt. It turns out Dr. Tay-E (aka The Love Doctor) gives seminars for single black women on why single, successful black men aren’t asking them out. Sheree plans on going to one, but it leaves the viewer wondering what makes a single man the expert; shouldn’t these women be spending their hard earned money learning from men who are already in long term, successful and committed relationships? At the seminar, Sheree is still attracted to Dr. Tay-E and afterward, he asks her to come over for a date so he can cook her dinner.
Cynthia and Peter get picked up in a limo that Phaedra has sent for them, to go to the Steeple Chase, a mini version of the Kentucky Derby. When the limo picks up Phaedra and Dwight, Cynthia thinks that Phaedra looks like “ a black Tammy Fae Baker and Dwight looks like Willy Wonka” with their loud pink hats. Phaedra starts talking about how Apollo is “Clean” and doesn’t have any kids, when Peter admits to having 5 kids. She doesn’t think she could deal with all of those babies mama’s and stays on the subject while Peter is growing increasingly pissed off in the limo.
Kim visits Kandi in her studio and they talk about writing Kim a new song based on the Jimmy Kimmel joke that “the ring didn’t mean a thing”. This time, Kandi wants producer credit.
Phaedra has a big baby shower extravaganza that Cynthia, Kim, Kandi and Lisa Wu Hartwell are invited to. Lisa is only in front of the camera momentarily but it is nice to see her. Phaedra has had Dwight decorate and manager the party, and when she comes in with a bunch of white roses randomly (and not in a whimsical way) placed in her hair, Cynthia decides that that was “Dwight’s idea”. Kandi thinks it is more like a wedding than a shower, Kim comes in late and without a hat, which pisses Phaedra off. Then the ballerinas come in…and Dwight and Phaedra waltz. All of the girls are just floored with the ridiculousness of the event and Kandi calls Phaedra’s rhinestone eye jewelry “Bourghetto” which is a combo of “bourgeois” and “ghetto”.
