It's down to the lucky seven on The Sing Off and tonight they'll each be performing a mix of three songs from an iconic superstar.
In honor of Halloween, we start out with the groups doing a Halloween-themed mashup performance. All dressed up and working the stage, they kick it off on a high note.
After Urban Method got bad reviews last week for the girls and their singing, they decide to put it all out there this week and take on Rihanna for the superstar medley. It started out slower for me on the first two songs, but they picked it up real good on the last song. Katie worked it out in the end, but was it good enough to keep them around?
Another group, Vocal Point, who was in the bottom of their bracket last week gets their chance to redeem themselves when they try to honor Elvis Presley in their superstar medley. They started out slower in the first two songs, but I really enjoyed them and then kicked it in on the last song. This was fun and done well...such a fun group.
It's time for one of my faves, Afro-Blue, who didn't impress me last week, but I'm not a judge so it doesn't matter. They will be taking on Janet Jackson for the medley...so excited. They all want to seem to wait until the last song to win me over tonight. Again, it started out slow and I wasn't feeling it, but the end won me over.
One of the groups I feel is a strong contender, Dartmouth Aires, is up next and they will be taking on Queen in their medley. The thing with this group is that they are so entertaining when on that stage. Now don't get me wrong, they can sing, but the show they put on just keeps you so enthralled with what they may do next. This was an awesome performance.
The group that has been winning me over more and more every week, Pentatonix, may win me over completely when they decide to take on my girl Britney Spears. And I just got chills. For only having five people, this group isn't messing around. They take songs and make them their own and they do it well...they may be my favorite group on the show now...awesome job guys and girl!
The all-girl group, Delilah, takes on another one of my girls, Alicia Keys...this could be amazing. A very good performance...they had good vocals, but ended it with finally bringing Amy out front and center, which I loved.
The YellowJackets had to fight to stay in the competition last week, so they will be trying to win the judges over this week with a Billy Joel medley. This was a stellar performance...I love this group. They are so good on that stage and it is so fun to watch. This is going to be a hard week for the judges.
After a performance from last season's winner, Committed, we get to see which of the groups will be going home...this makes me nervous. The first five safe are: Dartmouth Aires, Pentatonix, Vocal Point, Delilah and Afro-Blue. That leaves Urban Method and YellowJackets, with me not wanting either group to go home. The group still having a chance to win is Urban Method, which means YellowJackets are going home.
The Sing-Off airs Mondays at 8/7c on NBC.
