After three long weeks, Atlanta is back! Did you guys miss it as much as I did?! Let's get right to what happened last night...
We started out with the getting-cuter-by-the-minute baby Aiden with his grandma in the kitchen, and Phaedra came in to talk about how excited she was about starting her funeral home business. Her mom said that she'd love to be the pastor for it, and Phaedra was thrilled about leaving a legacy for Aiden. But there's still one not-so-little roadblock to get through, and that's Apollo. He's not too jazzed about the idea (can you blame him?), and Phaedra thinks that a meeting with good ol' Willie Watkins will change his mind. I'm doubtful about that.
Meanwhile, on the way to their salsa lesson, Cynthia wasn't really feeling up for dancing after the way Peter treated her at the opening of the agency. When they sat down to talk about it, Peter said that they have tension because they never do anything fun anymore, and Cynthia said that they have tension because they don't communicate well. She said that she doesn't like the way he feels like it's okay to fly off the handle whenever he wants to, and that things have to change. Go 'head, girl! I've been DYING (calm down, Phaedra) for Cynthia to tell this man off, and it finally happened! It's nice to see her standing up for herself.
Kim is finding that she has to stand up for herself lately too - against her oldest daughter, Brielle. See, Brielle's a spoiled brat who doesn't want to help with anything, and she needs to be taught a lesson. Kim realizes this more than ever now, and between her and Kroy, I think they've got a real problem on their hands with that one. I think Kim knows it's her fault though - she totally babied Brielle and gave her whatever she wanted, and now it's coming back to bite her.
Kandi's gone country! She went to Nashville with her producer, Lil' Ronnie (BTW, how sweet would it be if they ended up together?! I sense something between them, and I don't think I'm alone here) to go to Jo Dee Messina's house to work on a song together. As we all know, Jo Dee Messina is a huge country star, and Kandi was a bit nervous to work with her. The woman couldn't have been nicer, though, and the song that the three of them eventually worked out sounded pretty good to me! It was a nice mixture of country and R&B, and I'd totally buy the single if it ever came out. Would you? I think Kandi's got something here.
Didn't you miss NeNe? Me neither. But it was still fun to see her meeting up with Marlo Hampton to dispel the rumors about NeNe and Marlo's current flame, Charles Grant. NeNe let her know that nothing at all happened between them, and Marlo accepted that, because both she and Charles have the same story to tell. Then Marlo went on to talk about how she's been arrested 7 times and spent six months in jail, how she comes from an abusive home life, and all sorts of other things nobody would expect from this socialite who seems so together. I think it's cool that Marlo's managed to pull her life together so well, but if she hangs out with NeNe anymore, it's all gonna crash and burn. For sure.
Sheree came to Kim's house to help her work out and show her how to juice vegetables. It went exactly like you think it did.
Then Phaedra and Apollo's meeting with pastor Willie happened, and while Phaedra gushed about how this was her passion and how she wants to do funerals with a bang, Apollo looked like he might throw up any minute. It only got worse when Willie took them on a tour of the embalming room and casket showcase. Apollo said he needed to think about the whole thing, and I was convinced that it wasn't gonna happen for Phaedra. Little did I know...
NeNe arrived at a charity jewelry event and met up with Marlo, and while they were there, NeNe admired a pair of earrings that turned out to be $25,000. NeNe said, "Marlo can buy whatever she wants, but I don't need a pair of earrings that cost $25,000." Oh, but you DID need a $9 million house in Miami that you clearly couldn't afford?! What happened to all the money you were "runnin' to the bank!"? Just be real! Ugh, she gets on my nerves.
Apollo showed up at Phaedra's office with flowers and told her that he's a go for the funeral business, which excited her and shocked the hell out of me. Who knew he'd end up being supportive of this crazy idea?! He did stipulate, however, that he would not be moving any bodies under any circumstances, but I have a feeling it's gonna happen anyway.
To close out the show, Cynthia and Peter went for a counseling session with the pastor that married them, and the pastor asked each of them to tell the other what they loved about each other. Cynthia rattled off a list of how she's attracted to Peter's strength and how he always tries to get things done, and how he's done a lot of things that she hasn't, and really seemed genuine about how he felt. Peter decided to use his time to talk about how they were there to focus on what they don't like about each other, which frustrated Cynthia and probably all of you too. Why is she WITH this man?! She can do so much better.
Eventually, after some browbeating, Peter FINALLY got around to saying that Cynthia makes his day better, and he loves that she wants this marriage to work. Outside of the meeting, Cynthia said that she's still in love with Peter but she sometimes doesn't like him anymore. It was so refreshing to hear her be so honest, but let me be honest in saying that I hope they don't work it out. I think she needs to get away from Peter ASAP.
Next week, Kandi's mom tries to bring Kim and NeNe back together?! I can already smell the drama. Can't wait!
