So Leila is back and Victoria is gone, and we're down to just five young women vying to be the winner of America's Next Top Model: College Edition. Still in Jamaica, Kiara notes that while it was time for Victoria to go home, sharing space in the bottom two was a scary place for her to be, and she'd do anything they asked her to do in the competition. Including kill someone. Which, ironically, seems to be exactly what Kristin would like to do being in the house with the remaining girls.
Unsurprisingly, Laura is still pissed that Leila is allowed back in the competition. She's complaining that Leila hasn't had to deal with the same stresses the other girls have had while living in the house. Personally, if she's worried about added stress to her life, I think she should try to focus a little less on Leila's return. That'll be one less thing to be stressed about, since Leila isn't going away (yet, at least.)
So this week's first challenge takes the girls to the beach to meet Johnny and Bob Marley's daughter, Cedella, who is the designer of the swimwear the girls will be modeling in the water with a couple of dolphins. In the first shot, the girls will pose with the dolphin, while in the second shot, they will pose while being pushed through the water by the animals.
Getting into their swimsuits, Laura reveals that one of her insecurities in the competition is seeing the other girls, who have what she refers to as "double-zero" "straight up and down" "little boy bodies." Unlike her body, which represents girls who are healthy and strong and have a butt and a "figure". In case you are blind, let me tell you what Laura looks like - she's beautiful. Her body is beautiful. She is not unhealthy by any means, but I wouldn't say she's representing the majority of "healthy" girls.
The shoot begins with Kiara, who has some trouble posing while the dolphin pushes her, as the waves are blocking her suit. As someone who has experienced dolphin encounters like this several times, I can relate - it's not easy to rise out of the water and look graceful doing it!
During Leila's first pose, the dolphin got spooked and smacked her leg in the process of swimming away. The force causes quite a bit of discomfort for her, but you know Kristin and Laura don't feel bad about it. The crew is taken out of the water until the extent of Leila's injury can be determined, and she's worried it's going to hurt her chances for a good challenge score.
Leila does get a second chance, however, and Laura informs us that her poses were boring because she was trying too hard to be high fashion. Johnny was super excited about her second set, however, as she got a great pose off as the dolphin pushed her through the water.
Kristin isn't impressed by Leila, however...she says it's not that hard to do. To her credit, she does get some good extension on her poses, but she looked like a cheerleader doing it. In case you wondered, Laura's poses didn't impress Leila, so we're even. Laura's second pose caused quite a stir though - her top came down and flashed the entire beach.
As the girls get their critiques, Johnny tells Laura that she does sort of only have one look, but he appreciated that she stayed with the pose even after her top fell. He says that Kristin definitely looked like a tourist, which was the opposite of what she wanted to hear. Nastasia and Leila both have terrific critiques, and Leila wins the challenge, choosing to share the prize package with Kiara.
As Leila takes inventory of all her prize package options, Kristin and Laura are really busy hating her. Kristin is really vocal about everything she hates about her (her name, her voice, you get the drift), but Laura is quietly hating the competition and trying to stay out of the drama. Supposedly.
For the second challenge of the episode, the girls meet Johnny at Dunn's River Falls, where they will have to get a shot while posing in the waterfall as a warrior. Their photographer for this shoot? None other than Tyra herself. Tyra is also styling the girls for the shoot, assigning each of them the accessories and theme of her choice.
Nastasia is up first, representing the theme of pipes. As they get set for the shoot, we hear all about how dangerous the falls are and how careful they'll have to be, and you just know that means someone is gonna have an accident. The metal warrior, Kiara, is next. She manages not to slip, and Tyra is happy with her shoot. Kristin, however, wants us to know that "Kiara is stupid" and she hates her.
Laura, representing shells, is nervous about slipping, and tenses up immediately. She's also having issues with the water rushing over her face, but she's too scared to take a step. Tyra is disappointed with her shoot. Kristin, in fabric, is trying to show that she's more model-like, but the shower curtain covering her head is constantly falling off. Leila, themed in wood, goes last, and Tyra says she's modeling from the inside. Tyra thinks the fans knew what they were doing when they brought her back.
At judges panel, we hear the following:
Nastasia: Kelly loves the way her body is elongated, but wished her eyes had given a little bit more. Rob says she's like a chameleon, and Tyra thinks she rocked it. Bryanboy says people loved her shot.
Judges Scores: 8 (Kelly) + 9 (Tyra) + 9 (Rob)
Laura: Rob says she's got fierce eyes and thinks she's getting better and better, but Kelly disagrees - she doesn't think she did her body any justice. Tyra thinks she needs to do more to find what her angles are, and Bryanboy tells her that the fans didn't love this shot either.
Judges Scores: 7 (Kelly) + 8 (Tyra) + 9 (Rob)
Leila: Kelly thanks Leila for her "amazing shot" and says she loves it. Rob agrees, calling it one of the best pictures he's seen. Tyra loves it, the fans love it.
Judges Scores: 10 (Kelly) + 10 (Tyra) + 10 (Rob)
Kristin: Rob likes the shot and her face, but he doesn't love the body position. Kelly doesn't really like it at all, and doesn't think she looked like a model at a fashion shoot. Tyra isn't as harsh and appreciated that Kristin didn't complain about the conditions of the shoot. Bryanboy tells Kristin that her fans seemed disappointed.
Judges Scores: 7 (Kelly) + 9 (Tyra) + 8 (Rob)
Kiara: Rob loved the shot, and Kelly agrees - she thinks the shot this week was very strong and that Kiara does the "warrior girl" thing well. Tyra loves it and thinks this angle could be Kiara's "money shot". Finally, Bryanboy tells her, she is finally getting high scores from the fans.
Judges Scores: 9 (Kelly) + 10 (Tyra) + 10 (Rob)
The girls don't hear their social media scores right away, so as they group together to wait to be called back, Leila and Kiara in particular are excited about their high scores. Kristin, already annoyed by them, is extra irritable after getting lower scores than she would've liked and sarcastically thanks them for their "lack of respect" in celebrating when other girls are worried.
Uh oh - Kiara doesn't take it from anyone. She knows that Kristin would - and has been known to - celebrate good scores, and she calls her out on it. Leila tries to point out that they wouldn't lash out when Kristin, or anyone else, was excited about scores while others were worried, but Kristin doesn't want to hear any of it. Mostly because she hates Kiara and Leila, I guess.
Back with Tyra, Leila is announced as the top score and best photo. Tyra also tells the models that she has chosen Kiara's photo to blow up and hang in her house. Nastasia is the third girl called out, leaving Kristin and Laura as the bottom two.
When the social media scores come in, Kristin is left with the lowest score, and Laura joins the other remaining contestants. Tyra tells Kristin to really concentrate on her face because that's her strength, as opposed to "trying to force the other thing."
Even as she leaves the competition, Kristin vows to continue modeling and reminds us that she doesn't like any of the girls in the house and thinks they're all fake. To her credit, Kristin hasn't ever tried to pretend she was someone else, and even in the end, doesn't hug Leila or Kiara. If there's anything for her to smile about, it would be the fact that she doesn't have interact with these girls any more.
